The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, April 8, 2006
On Saturday, April 8, 2006, members of the club traveled in a loose caravan to Palm Desert to experience the LGB layout at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. This layout owned by the Living Desert is run by volunteers who have worked for seven years to produce a fabulous and still growing layout. Though the Living Desert is open year round, trains do not run over the three summer months. Volunteers clean the track every morning before running, set up the daily consists, monitor train movement through out the day, and clean engine wheels at the end of each day.
